How to Stop Calls from Electric Suppliers

If you’re tired of receiving calls from retail electric suppliers, there are two things you can do to stop them:

  1. If you haven’t done so already, add your name to the National Do Not Call Registry. To register your phone number online, visit https://www.donotcall.gov/ or call toll-free (888) 382-1222.
  2. Duke Energy customers can have their name, address and usage information removed from the “Eligible Customer List.”  Notify Duke Energy online at http://www.duke-energy.com/ohio-customer-choice/residential-opting-on-off-customer-list.asp or call 800-544-6900.  Duke Energy’s next opt-out update is October 16, 2014.

If you have already registered your phone number on either list, there is no need to do so again.

Neighborhood Watch: What Can I Do?

Image

Last night we met with the West Chester Police Department to form a Neighborhood Watch for Knottingwood Estates.  Thank you to all of the homeowners who attended the meeting.  The purpose of a Neighborhood Watch is to prevent crime before it happens, and all of us can take part by becoming the eyes and ears of our neighborhood.  When you drive down the street, you know who belongs there and who doesn’t.  The main goal is to pay attention.

To report a possible crime:

1.  Observe suspicious activity as inconspicuously as possible.  Do not attempt to confront a suspect!

2.  Try to identify the following:

  • Facts of the crime
  • Location
  • Description of person(s) involved
  • Description of vehicle(s) involved

3.  Remain calm.  To report a crime call 9-1-1 (for an emergency) or 513-777-2231 (West Chester’s non-emergency number).

In the next few weeks, Neighborhood Watch signs will be posted identifying our participation in the program.  If you’re interested in attending a July 9th presentation by the West Chester Police Department on “Active Violence” at 6:30 pm, please contact us for further information, as an RSVP is required.
